Overview

As a company that solves complex business problems for its clients, Kaufman Hall sought a communications agency that not only understood the complexities and nuances of its business lines, but also could bring ideas to the table and execute them. It selected Amendola Communications to provide strategic counsel, media relations, and content development for Kaufman Hall’s three industry sectors—healthcare, financial institutions, and higher education—as well as to build upon Kaufman Hall’s brand reputation in these industries for its software and management consulting services.

Insight

Traditional healthcare delivery was changing before Kaufman Hall enlisted Amendola in the spring of 2018. But to ensure that the value it delivered to its hospital and health system clients cut through a noisy healthcare marketplace, Kaufman Hall ushered in its monthly national hospital flash reports, reporting on the financial health of hospitals. These reports complemented its annual research around CFO trends, cost transformation/performance improvement, M&A, and the state of consumerism.  

Solution

Amendola implemented a disciplined approach of media relations that included proactive trends pitching, thought leadership, and company-generated data such as the flash report. Through a combination of targeted pitches and Kaufman Hall data, Amendola established a cadence of newsworthy materials, eventually anticipated by media outlets. By building credibility with reporters, Amendola gained their confidence—and, in turn, reporters approached Amendola time and again to secure Kaufman Hall expert perspective for important stories in the news.

Results

-Drafted 65 news releases and 14 bylines; facilitated 77 media interviews
-Secured 580 media placements (59 in 2018; 160 in 2019; and 361 in 2020).
